EFF-Austin, a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:
The AI Opportunity to Reset and Realign Computing
From the Organizers:
Our speaker this month, Peter Wang, will articulate his reasons for optimism about the current inflection point in computing, and lay out his framing for some of the challenges at the intersection of AI and digital rights.
Peter is the founder and CEO of Anaconda, and a founder of the PyData open source data science movement. He has been a long-time advocate for open source software, starting with founding the Linux Users Group at Cornell in 1994. In recent years, he has been active in the internet privacy and decentralization movement, having given many talks at DWeb Camp and serving on the board of the Center for Humane Technology. With the accelerated adoption of machine learning and AI systems, Peter is actively working on ensuring that the technology foundations of the future remain open to innovation and are oriented towards human thriving.
Talk will both be livestreamed here and later archived here on the EFF-Austin YouTube channels. Questions for the speaker from virtual attendees may be submitted via the Youtube livestream chat, our Twitter account, @EFFaustin, or our Mastodon account, @effaustin@mastodon.social.
