In 2016, the 21st Century Cures Act was passed, a federal law governing the sharing of electronic health information and putting boundaries in place on the information that providers and institutions can legally block on patients’ medical records.

With the fall of Roe v. Wade last year, and states passing new laws that seriously restrict or criminalize abortion, the sharing of abortion information has created a state of confusion and created concerns around potential risk.

At this webinar, hosted by the California Abortion Alliance, participants will:

  • Discuss the importance of informing patients about what they can expect regarding their privacy and the possible ramifications they might encounter as a result of mandated sharing of medical information
  • Hear from abortion providers whose patients have faced  the consequences of health information exchange
  • Learn about what providers and clinics are doing now to protect patient privacy, what changes are being proposed federally and at the state level, and how you can stay informed.
