Electronic Frontiers Georgia (EFGA), a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:
New DOJ CFAA Policy for Security Researchers
From the Organizers:
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced a new policy regarding the overbroad and vague Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, under which it will not bring CFAA prosecutions against those engaged “solely” in “good faith” security research. In the past, the threat of prosecution has been used to deter responsible security research, sparing powerful entities from potential scrutiny while making their systems less safe.
Our speaker will be EFF's Senior Staff Attorney Andrew Crocker. Join us to learn more about the new policy, whether it could be reversed in the future, and if it really goes far enough.
When:
7 pm – 8 pm ET
Where:
We will meet virtually using the BigBlueButton platform. Please join us here on Wednesday, July 13th, at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
