On June 24, 2022 the Supreme Court released their opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization which overturned the federal right to abortion. A series of state laws outlawing and limiting abortion immediatetly triggered after the decision, and in the weeks after, more restrictive state laws followed.
In the two months since that decision, EFF staffers across our legal, tech and activism teams have worked with each other as well as with the reproductive justice community at-large to determine how EFF could best protect the digital privacy of the millions of Americans affected by this decision.
Insider Briefing #6 shares what we’ve achieved in these last few months. This includes writing security guides to improve the operational security for those providing and seeking abortions, drafting legislation to better protect the privacy of health information, and finding new ways to reach those who are now thinking about digital privacy and security for the first time.
We are proud of what we’ve accomplished in such a short time, and are continuing to provide support for the reproductive justice community and all communities whose digital privacy is threatened.
